Our bees:
Our red mason bees are successfully used both for pollination of trees in large fruit orchards and home gardens. Plants pollinated by a bee mason create more fruit and their fruits are better developed, thanks to it the crop is larger and the fruit is more fertile. Due to its anatomical structure, red mason bee is completely safe for humans and it is not able to sting people, therefore it is increasingly used in various educational programs related to the promotion of an ecological approach for schoolchildren and preschoolers. Red mason bee is practically maintenance-free - cocoons are exposed in early spring near the nest tubes, under the influence of temperature the bee wakes up, settles the nests and begins to bear pollen and nectar from the flowers of nearby plants while pollinating them. Bee lays eggs for the pollen brought in, and then builds up the breeding chamber using soil excavated in the area. This cycle of activities is repeated as many times as the individual bee lays eggs. Red mason bee most effectively operates in its immediate vicinity - the effective range of te bee is about 150m so with larger orchard areas it is recommended to disperse the hives every 100m in order to minimize the time of bee arrival to individual plants and thus increase their pollination efficiency and also provide even pollination of plants throughout the area. The life period of the bee falls from the end of March to the second half of June, which means that practically all plants flowering in this period can be pollinated by it. In the second half of June, the period of existence of the red mason bee ends, the old individuals gradually die and the new generation matures in breeding chambers. At the end of September a new generation of specimens of the bee of the red mason bees is already mature and they look forward to the spring to repeat their development cycle next year.
